PLASTIC

REDUCTION

Plastic is becoming an issue of increasing importance in due to its many consequences on people's health and the environment.

There are an estimated 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic litter in the world’s oceans, and a significant portion of this plastic debris causes harm to humans, animals and plants. An estimated 90% of all seabirds have consumed plastic at one point in their lives.

This plastic waste has an impact on humans as well. More than 2.6 billion people are reliant on the ocean as their primary source of protein. Toxins from microplastics can remain in the food chain and may eventually end up on our plates.

Businesses and industries that produce and use plastic are major contributors to ocean pollution. Therefore, it is important for large businesses to lead by example and reduce their contributions to plastic pollution in order to alleviate the harmful outcomes.
